What happens during an engagement ring consultation?
We invite you to visit our studio at James Place, Adelaide or meet with one of our design consultants remotely over zoom. We take this time to understand you, know your story and your preferences. You may come with a clear idea, a collection of inspiration photos or absolutely no idea at all. All three are good starting points. Our Master Designers guide you and educate you every step of the way so you can make an informed choice.Â

At our studio, you’ll explore possibilities for the ring’s style, metal, and setting. You will be able to view loose natural diamonds and coloured gemstones in various shapes and sizes to select. Your design consultant will educate you on your selected choices and what’s best according to your lifestyle. Then, in collaboration with you, a Master Designer work on your final ring design. All this happens in a warm and relaxed setting of our Diamond Lounge, where we ensure that you feel comfortable and unrushed.
From your ideas to a handmade ring
After the design consultation, our team considers the ring’s proportions, how the stone will be set and how the piece will be constructed. Once you agree to go ahead with it, the design goes to one of our Master Jewellers benches. It is then handmade using traditional bench techniques in our Adelaide studio. Â
The final ring undergoes rigorous quality checks to ensure every detail is crafted with care and precision. After passing quality control, the ring gets ready for collection.

1.Do I need to know exactly what I want before booking?Â
No. Bring any photos or ideas you have, but you can also come in without any idea too. Your design consultant can help you discover ring styles, compare options and find a direction.
2. Can I create a ring as a surprise?Â
Yes. We create surprise engagement rings for our clients all the time. Even if you don’t know their finger size, our design consultants help you find the correct size using their photo.Â
3. Can I choose a coloured gemstone instead of a diamond?Â
Yes. We can discuss precious natural-coloured gemstones as well as natural diamonds. Your design consultant shows you options in your preferred gemstone for selection. If you have a specific-coloured gemstone in mind, we will source it from our world-wide network of suppliers.Â
4.Can I use a family stone in a new engagement ring?Â
Yes, you can. Bring your family stone to the design consultation. Our team will assess it and advice its suitability for the design. We’ve incorporated inherited stones in engagement rings for our clients’ numerous times and can sure help you with yours.
5. How much does a custom engagement ring cost?
The price of a custom ring depends on the chosen materials, gemstone and design. Sharing your budget at the consultation gives us a useful starting point. We’ll discuss the details and price of your proposed ring before you decide to proceed.Â
6. How long does the process take?
The timeframe depends on the design, materials and craftsmanship required. If you have a proposal date, mention it when booking so we can discuss timing with you from the outset. Normally we request you to give us around four weeks of time, but timeline can be customised depending upon your needs.
