Why Bell & Brunt Works Exclusively With Natural Diamonds

At Bell & Brunt, we recognise that both natural and lab-grown diamonds have a place in today’s market. Our choice to work exclusively with natural diamonds is based on our philosophy of creating heirloom jewellery designed to be treasured and passed through generations.

Why Origin Matters

Lab-grown and natural diamonds share the same chemical composition and beauty. The key difference lies in their origin.

Natural diamonds formed over billions of years within the earth, while lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology in controlled laboratory environments.

At Bell & Brunt, we believe a diamond’s origin is an important consideration when choosing a stone. The natural formation and unique characteristics of each natural diamond align with our philosophy of creating heirloom jewellery designed to be treasured and passed through generations.

When marking life’s most significant moments, many of our clients appreciate the geological history and natural origin of a mined diamond.

Choosing What Is Right For You

There is no universal “right” choice.

Some consumers prioritise rarity and natural origin. Others prioritise maximising size and quality within a particular budget.

The most important thing is understanding the differences and selecting the option that best aligns with your own values and priorities.

At Bell & Brunt, our role is to provide clear, accurate information and help our clients make an informed decision based on their own priorities.

Why Many Clients Choose Natural Diamonds

BandB-WEB-0021 (2)

Many of our clients are drawn to natural diamonds because of their geological history, natural origin and personal significance. Natural diamonds have long-established secondary markets and are commonly insured, inherited and, in some circumstances, bought and sold.

Understanding Ethical Sourcing

Consumers today rightly want to understand where their diamonds come from and how they are sourced. Bell & Brunt carefully selects natural diamonds through established suppliers who provide assurances that their diamonds are sourced through channels operating in accordance with applicable Kimberley Process requirements.

The Kimberley Process is an important international framework designed to help prevent conflict rough diamonds from entering the legitimate trade. While it plays a significant role, it does not independently verify every labour, environmental or traceability aspect of an individual polished diamond.

Understanding Long-Term Value

When considering any diamond purchase, it is important to distinguish between emotional value and resale value.

Natural diamonds benefit from long-established global trading and resale markets that have existed for generations. Individual resale outcomes, however, vary depending on factors such as quality, demand and market conditions. Laboratory-grown diamonds are a relatively newer category, and the long-term characteristics of their secondary resale market are still developing.

As with many luxury purchases, future resale outcomes can never be guaranteed and should not be the primary reason for choosing one diamond over another.

At Bell & Brunt, we encourage clients to choose the diamond that best aligns with their values, priorities and the significance of the occasion.
